Abstract

|
A case with rifampin-induced immune thrombocytopenia is reported in a 58-year-old
female patient who had been treated with rifampin over a period of 8 months. This
thrombocytopenia occured during administration of rifampin.
The clot retraction inhibition study using patient's serum and rifampin yielded positive
result. The readministration of rifampin was followed by a rapid decrease of the platelet
count to 9,000/㎣ in few hours and then gradually recovered to normal level in 7 days.
